Is it over the top to be breastfeeding a 3 year old? Is it perverted? Should she be feeding a child old enough to ask for a glass of milk? Why is this preferred, even recommended by physicians, but not if the same 3 year old has a bottle? Is this for nourishment or comfort? Comfort for whom; mom or child?
My views: While I wouldn't breastfeed a 3 year old, it doesn't make this wrong in my opinion. I do believe that this is solely for comfort for the mom, and maybe for the child. While this is the norm in other countries, it is also one of the main sources of nourishment for young children in third world countries. In more developed countries however, there are other forms of nourishment.
At 3, my kids were getting their own glasses of milk!
